Branding Projects 1-3

Site alterations on the surface of tree stumps clustered around Fort Jay. The stumps are all that remains of trees planted at various times by the Army and Coast Guard when the open grassy expanses served as a golf course. The trees were viewed as ‘inauthentic’ and removed by the National Park Service.

Extra Limb

A site specific installation in a former munitions warehouse, each seaweed wrapped letter subtly shifts form with temperature and humidity changes.
The text imagines discovering an extra limb and trying to figure out its purpose, a metaphor for the repurposing of the island into a public space.
